The incubator is managed by the Research Foundation of the State University of New York on behalf of the University at Stony Brook. The key management objectives of the Stony Brook Software Incubator are:

  • The selection of the start-up companies that will occupy space in the incubator.
  • To act as technical and management advisors to the start-up companies.
  • Set the policies for and maintain the incubator WEB site.
  • With the assistance from Computer Associates, to provide the start-up companies with exposure to venture capitalists.
  • With assistance from established regional computer software and hardware companies, to provide the start-up companies with marketing expertise.
  • With assistance from the University at Stony Brook, to provide the start-up companies with access to and assistance from students, faculty, the Small Business Development Center, the Technology Transfer activities of the Research Foundation, SPIR, and other economic and technical development programs of the University at Stony Brook.
